Many of Porter’s great love ballads can be characterized as lust songs. More than any other songwriter writing in the Great American Songbook tradition, his ballad lyrics often had a sexual connotation. You'll find out why while you hear his Top Ten, in this multimedia presentation examining how the songwriter’s private life was reflected in his most well-known standards. $15. Charles Troy’s multimedia presentations tell the backgrounds of the greatest musicals and Broadway songwriters of the 20th century, in visually seamless programs with original graphics, scanned photos, edited audio tracks with the lyrics displayed onscreen, and historic video clips, coordinated with thoroughly researched, scripted narratives that weave the pertinent events into cohesive, dramatic stories.
Troy is a graphic designer and former theatre lyricist based in Chicago. His multimedia presentations merge his skills and his passion for the subject. Over the last ten years, he has developed more than 50 presentations.
He has built up a large and enthusiastic following in Chicago and in Florida. We are honored to have him back again this year presenting at the Cole Porter Festival.
